Special Meeting Sunday May 19: Voting for Search Committee

This Sunday, May 19th, at noon, a Special Meeting of the Congregation will be held in the Sanctuary so that each member of the congregation can cast their vote by a written ballot from the list of eleven nominees for the Settled Member Search Committee.

Search Committee Vote

Each member is asked to cast a vote for seven of the eleven nominees. The votes will be counted by the Moderator and the Vice Moderator. The four nominees with the most votes will serve on the Committee. In the event of a tie for the fourth nominee, the Moderator will cast a tie breaking vote. Immediately following the Special Meeting, the Prudential Committee will then appoint three more of the nominees to serve on the Committee to ensure that the committee is balanced.

The Settled Minister Search Committee will be comprised of seven members and will be charged with researching, interviewing and ultimately recommending a candidate who will be the best match for our congregation by the Spring of 2014, at which point the congregation will vote on whether to call this candidate to serve our parish as our next settled minister.
What if I cannot attend? For those members who can not attend the Special Meeting this Sunday, you may cast an absentee ballot electronically by clicking here or you may call the Vice Moderator Seth Popinchalk at (508) 740-8036 to register your response.

By-Laws Vote

Prior to the vote by written ballot for Settled Minster Search Committee those present at the special meeting are asked to consider and then vote by a show of hands to change the bylaws to enable the Prudential Committee make the appointment of three of the nominees to the Search Committee.

A New Chapter

This Special Meeting begins a new chapter for the First Unitarian Church. Please attend this meeting and cast your vote!

Scott Hayman, Moderator
Seth Popinchalk, Vice Moderator
