This past Sunday, May 19th, after worship, the Special Meeting of the Congregation took place at which, after very good discussion, the Congregation voted to amend its bylaws to enable the Prudential Committee to appoint 2 members from a field of 12 very strong nominees to the Settled Minister Search Committee. Following the affirmative vote for the amendment, an additional 5 nominees were voted on to the Settled Minister Search Committee by the members present at the Special Meeting and through absentee votes of the membership. The 7 member Settled Minister Search Committee in now in place and the members are as follows:

We are very grateful to these members of our church who have committed to the work of seeking out, interviewing and ultimately recommending to our congregation the ministerial candidate who they think will be the best match for our congregation and the wider community going forward into the many new chapters of First U's future. We have placed our trust and faith in them over the coming year to listen to and learn from from each and everyone of us, take stock, deliberate among themselves, and open themselves up to the world of the UUA and its many fine ministers! Their work is vitally important to us, the communities we serve and the principals we stand for. The next time you see one of these wonderful people please be sure to give them your warmest regards and sincere encouragement as they embark on their work on our behalf! By the Spring of 2014, they will bring before us their recommendation. Our job will be to ready ourselves, continue putting our house in order, and share the good news of our congregation and our associations!
Sincerely,
Scott Hayman
