Woosh! There goes the fall. Who is looking for our 12th settled minister?

Moderators Memo

This past week was a sobering reminder of how fast time is flying by.  Elections have past, which means this is NOVEMBER!?  We just experienced our first nor'easter with a good dose of heavy snowfall.  I lost electricity after the storm, and my kids had a snow day!

I am sure the next couple months will go by just as fast as the last few.  There is one critical event we are all preparing for: the departure of Rev. Schade.  While David Spangel and the Interim Minister Search Committee are working to find a minister for the 2013-14 church year, we also need to form a committee to find our next settled minister.

Now Accepting Nominations for the Settled Minister Search Committee!

It is time for us to identify 11 members to form our Settled Minister Search Committee (SMSC).  We are now accepting nominations for the SMSC electronically (email:popinchalk@gmail.com) or by written ballot at the Welcome Table in the Bancroft Room.  For all nominations, we would like the name of the nominator, and the nominee.  We want the SMSC to be representative of our congregation.  The Prudential Committee will construct a SMSC slate to be voted on during the annual meeting in January.  For those voted onto the committee we will be looking for a commitment until we have called our next minister.

What's next?

Since there is so much going on in the next couple months, here is my cheat sheet of important dates everyone should have in their calendar:

• Saturday November 17 - John Henry's Hammer Coffee House featuring the Dennis Brennan Band
• Sunday November 18 - The Caring Circle Kick-off Potluck and Games following service.
• November 20 - The application deadline to respond to our announcement of a Six Month Interim Minister, (applications are rolling in!) 
• Thursday November 22 - Thanksgiving Potluck at the church
• Saturday December 1 - Winter Gala Fundraiser, dinner and dancing with great conversation and the music of Cosmic Slim and the Intergalactic Plowboys
• Sunday December 16 - Christmas Pageant and Hanukkah Coffee Hour
• Sunday December 23 - Music Sunday
• Monday December 24 - Christmas Eve Service
• Sunday January 13 - Rev. Schade's Final Service and a Party for Tom! 
• Sunday January 27 - Annual Meeting - we will vote for our Settled Minister Search Committee
• Sunday February 3 - Welcome our first Interim Minister
