Appointment of the Interim Minister Search and Transition Team
On this past Monday night the First Unitarian Church’s Prudential Committee held its first meeting of the new church year. Aside from regular committee reports and updates from Tom and Jessica, the special business of the meeting was to appoint the First Unitarian Interim Minister Search and Transition Team!
Scott did all the pre-work to identify members of the church that are well connected within our community and can represent our congregation. This team needs to act quickly, because we would like to have the interim minister selected by the beginning of January 2013 at the latest!
The Prudential Committee approved the proposed search team, and I am proud to introduce them to you below. The team includes:
David Spanagel - Chair Person
Mike Keating
Alicia Lenahan
Jane Beckwith
Wendy Innis
Rudy Cepko
Mark Deshaies
We have already had a great response from David Spanagel, and this team is ready to take on their primary tasks which include:
1. Generally gauge membership's preference for strengths and qualities of an interim minister. (preaching style? previous experience with churches like ours? administrative experience? etc.)
2. Work with the Prudential Committee to clarify hiring process details and screen candidates for consideration.
3. Work with the designee from the UUA or district office who provides possible matches.
4. Report to congregation on their progress.
5. Support the Interim Minister once they are on board.
You can meet this search team in person on Sunday when I introduce them during the service. We are looking to gather your feedback for the search process, so please approach those members of the Interim Minister Search team, Scott Hayman or myself.
